OUR STORY
Highland Stores began trading in Dunoon in 1969 and has been run by successive generations of the Livingstone family.
Originally opening at the bottom end of John Street and known then as Cowal Supply it was run by the current owners’ grandparents Hugh and Polly Livingstone.
In 1973 Cowal Supply relocated to the middle of Argyll Street and was on the site of Dunn’s the butcher in the gap beside Sinbad’s Bar. The shop was run by Jack and Maisie with the help, over the years, of their four children, Jackie, Alastair, Aileen and Alan.
In 1980 it moved to its present location (old Lipton’s supermarket) and had a name change to Highland Stores.
Today the shop is owned and operated by Alan Livingstone and has seen several changes over the past twenty years
With the much appreciated support of the Cowal community, holiday home and caravan owners, we would hope that Highland Stores will continue play a part of Dunoon’s Argyll Street shopping experience for many years to come.
